Our Little Biker Dude!

Before we had Ben, Doug and I really enjoyed getting some exercise on our bikes. So, a few weeks ago, we decided to get a bike seat for Ben. We have only been able to go on a few short rides, but so far he really seems to like it. We are really looking forward to taking our bikes on our upcoming vacation to Hilton Head, SC.

Save the New Jersey Department of Agriculture

Governor Corzine, as part of his budget proposal, has proposed eliminating the New Jersey Department of Agriculture. Yes, that's right... the Garden State would have no Department of Agriculture. This could have a devastating effect on not only the farmers but also the citizens of this great state. We are not powerless, though. Yesterday, over 1500 farmers went to Trenton to protest this plan. There were 120 tractors on State Street and, although I was unable to attend (I was home with Ben), I have never felt more unity with my fellow NJ farmers. You can help as well. Go to www.njfb.org (NJ Farm Bureau's website). There are excellent instructions there on what to do to stop this ridiculous plan. Please consider taking some time to help the farmers of NJ. Agriculture keeps NJ Green!!!

A Reminder of Nanny...

Last week, on a cold "Spring" day, I was rushing into the office in the house and this little daffodil stopped me in my tracks. It had popped through the ground just outside of the back porch of the farmhouse. I couldn't do anything but stop and stare at this tangible reminder of Nanny. It reminded me of her in so many ways. Nanny loved daffodils, she called them jonquils. She loved tending to flowers and was one of the best gardeners I've known. But most of all what reminded me of her is the simple beauty and strength of the flowers. She always had a beautiful strength no matter what circumstances she faced. So, here's to Nanny... always in our hearts.

A Fun Day Playing with Casey

Last week, Ben played ball with Casey and ran around the backyard at the farm and had a great time! He loves being outside!
